Vengeance or death…

Erik Cain is the hero of the Marine Corps, a celebrated warrior who has led his grim veterans into every war the Alliance and mankind have faced. But now he has left the Corps, driven to near madness by an overwhelming need for vengeance. He has sworn to kill Gavin Stark, the madman responsible for his mentor’s death and, with a small band of dedicated followers, he is pursuing his prey across occupied space.

Meanwhile, on a dozen colony worlds, Marines land to face the occupying forces of Stark’s Shadow Legions. They are supported by the Janissaries, their longtime enemies, now turned allies, but they are exhausted and outnumbered, facing a vastly superior enemy entrenched and waiting for them. But they are veterans, Marines and Janissaries both, men and women who have battled the armies of the First Imperium and lived to tell the tale. They know what is at stake, and they are determined to prevail, even if none of them come back.

And on Earth, the economic collapse Stark engineered has shattered the Treaty of Paris and its century-long prohibition against terrestrial warfare. Millions are already dead as the war between the Superpowers spreads across the Earth, a growing conflagration that could end in apocalyptic nuclear, chemical, and biological exchanges between the powers.

Will mankind live under the iron boot of Gavin Stark and his clone descendants forever? Or will Erik Cain and the Marines defeat him once and for all?

The Fall is the epic conclusion (book nine) to Jay Allan’s bestselling Crimson Worlds series (over 800,000 sold).

I have read all of the books in this series and even a few other books written by Jay Allan. I have enjoyed them all. They are not perfect but they are full of military Sci-Fi action and I have come to care for the story line and the characters in the books. Some of the books were 4 stars in my opinion and some were close to 5 stars. I rated this closing story a 5 star ending as I enjoyed it.

I say closing story when I have already read that two spin off series of books are already planed to be released. If you like military Sci-Fi then you will like this series of stories. This is a good author.

The Fall Crimson Worlds 9 eBook Jay Allan Reviews

Jay Allan manages to not only create believable personalities that you actually care about, personalities you loathe and more importantly, personalities that teeter on the edge both. The dystopian story arch is rich with military future tech, for both Naval and Ground forces, and delves deep into potential political realities, riffe with corruption and pure greed. The interplay between characters is fun and engaging, battles unfold in detail. Great read, hard to put down. Looking forward to starting the successor series next.
I have really enjoyed all of the Jay Allan books. This one is no different. A great read.

Sadly, this book appears to have been rushed to the finish line. Way too many spelling and grammar errors. Also, 3 times Jay transposed characters names...confusing, and breaks the focus on the storyline.

Still, I highly recommend this book, and look forward to reading more, because he can juggle an unbelievable number of topics, careers, and science better than any other writer of this genre that I have read, at least since "Lucifer's Hammer".
I got hooked on the series and have stayed with it through all ten books. I like the plots, the characters and the action.

I enjoy Jay's storytelling style.

The descriptions of space warfare are not as detailed as another one of my favorite series, "The Lost Fleet", but I enjoy them both.

I appreciate the fact that I can enjoy good science fiction action without being annoyed by excessive vulgar language or lewd scenes. There are relationships between people, but the intimate details are left to our imagination, and the story loses nothing.

Thanks, Jay, for an enjoyable read!

I have enjoyed this book, with the previous 8 in the Crimson Worlds series. Jay Allan is a master story teller. And his knowledge of military tactics and war making is exceptional. Thankfully the stories are fictional so we can simply read and enjoy the story, and not get caught up in the terrors of war. His character development is without equal. I highly recommend Jay's books.
That is what I love about Jay, you think you've got him pegged then ..... This installment did a great job of bringing this segment of the CWs to a conclusion. No spoilers but you see and experience a side of Eric Cain you thought might exist, but were afraid to consider. A good read! Write on Jay. Gotta move on, I just downloaded the latest book from the Blood On The Stars series.
Jay Allan delivers a high level of excitement through out this entire series. The characters may be somewhat exaggerated but I think each portrays the true heart of a soldier. Although they come from extreme & dire circumstances before being conscripted into the Corp, each comes to understand the ideal that binds them into the elite military brotherhood required for their survival and gives them their reason to fight & die.
The hero of the series is bigger than life accomplishing far more than any one man could. In a real war he would be an amalgam, many men doing what needed to be done. In seeing him as such and taking in the other characters, this series has caused me to reconsider what our military heroes must face in themselves - their desires & their fears - when they standup as our shield against those who would do us harm. Eventually all civilizations may fall but, as long as ordinary men & women are willing to make the ultimate sacrifice, freedom will endure.
Of course this may not be what Jay intends at all but only my take on it. You'll need to read the series to find out what you take away.
This is a good ending to the series. That said, this reviewer does have some issues with portrayal of the villain, Stark. No one could be that crazy as to think that a world that is racked by nuclear war and chemical and biological war is going to be worth ruling. And even a psychopath like Galvin has to realize that while it is important to "tie up loose ends," it is also important to reward your servants, not just punish them.

I also wonder where Stark comes up with the funding to keep his armies going. No matter how hard you train your troops, and how tough the discipline, they still have logistics tail. They need to be fed. They need ammo, spare parts, transport, mechanics, cooks, REMF's, etc.

And of course there is my objection to all of MR. Alan's Combat leaders being "loved" by their troops. By now that may not be unbelievable. All the bad ones would have been fragged by now.

Those objections aside. This book is up to Jay's standards. It is fast paced and the plot is internally consistent. If you have enjoyed the rest of the series you will like this one as well.
