Love Lies Typewriters edition by Heather Blanton Religion Spirituality eBooks
This is the first book I have tried from this author and I enjoyed it so much that I now own 6 of her books! A Western romance taking place during World War 2, it is even more captivating because it is based on her parents’ true love story. It is well written and easy to read, and I couldn’t help but cheer and hope for her to realize what a treasure the reporter Bryce Richard was. I loved Lucy’s dad saying, “I want Mr. Right to love you like Christ does: unconditionally and sacrificially.” I also loved when Lucy said, “My Mr. Right was standing right beside my Prince Charming.” I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more from this author!Product details

Love Lies Typewriters edition by Heather Blanton Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
I was drawn to Love, Lies & Typewriters because of the cover. I love the 20's thru 50's eras, and Ms. Blanton did not disappoint. By lightly flavoring the story, she transports the reader back to the simpler, yet tragic era of World War II with a sweet love story. Lucy has fancied herself in love with high school superstar Dale, and when he re-enters her life after earning a Purple Heart, she dreams he will finally notice her and fall in love with her. Notice her he does, when a herd of cows stampedes toward her and he rescues her from being trampled. Enter New York City reporter Bryce with his camera to capture the rescue and what ensues is a wonderful story of a small-town western girl falling head-over-heels for the NYC greenhorn. Lucy was such fun watching her navigate the scheme Bryce's father concocted to sell War Bonds and more copies of his newspaper, and Bryce trying to fit into a world foreign to him. These two mismatched souls are adorable, and leave the reader with a good feeling long after the story has ended. Ms. Blanton is an incredible story-teller, and author you should read.
I found this book through a blog hop and between the blurb, the cover, and the title, I couldn't wait to dive into it. And let me just say that the wait and anticipation of how I would like it didn't even compare to how much I LOVED IT!!!! The writing, the dialogue, time period references, every page just got better and better of this sweet historical romance.
And speaking of pages, at just 158, this novel is a quick read. It's paced perfectly and with a wonderful and enjoyable writing style, the plot and characters keep your interest to find out what happens to each of the three main characters. The cast of side characters add to the story, and everyone has distinct personalities. I loved the setting for the story, and the Christian elements couldn't have been more perfect to add to the tale. I won't get into any spoilers, but the unexpected twist at the ending made me love it even more.
Ms. Blanton, certainly, has a new fan in me. I give the book 5 Hearts!
I love me some Heather!
Her characters rise up from the pages to greet you. Her description, their personalities form a vision in your mind and you are immersed in their stories.
Her message about Christ isn't hardcore. Just subtle examples of how we need Him. How we need to know Him. And what He can do in our lives, if only we invite Him in.
I have enjoyed reading Heather's books and I'm always ready for the next one when I finish. I work in TV news and if you've watched lately...well, you know the world is not the world we grew up in. Heather's books are my escape. Reminding me of times long ago, when people had respect for themselves and others. When Ladies were ladies and men treated them as such. Can we go back please? And can Heather drive the Time Machine? She knows what she's doing.

Did not disappoint at all. It is like and old black and white movie and like you get lost in and never want it to end, A years ago they made movie that everyone enjoyed and could watch over and over and this story line is the those feel good book, it is a easy read and a great beach read, I will share it with all my friends to enjoy like I did,

This is another great book by Heather Blanton. This shines of her talent, the way she can go from A Lady in Defiance, which takes place in the gritty west, to this, that takes place in the west also, but in the 1940s. Look up Heather's name in the search box on for all her books. Then, buy them! You will not be disappointed. Each of her books is so well written, I, for one, felt like I was right there with the characters on a horse, in the bar, or in this case, the VFW. This book had me laughing a lot, especially at Dale's conceited nature, and at Bryce's frustrations. This was a very cute/sweet/fun book to read. Jud's dry humor was the best! Thank you Heather! Am looking forward to reading more of your books!!
I wasn't sure about how to write my review for this story but for me this was not a 5 star book especially as I mentally compared this book to those I have given 5 stars to. a good lighthearted story but no complex plot or characters.
The ending was totally predictable for me so I almost didn't finish the book when I got to the half way point.
I also think what was going on in my mind as I read the story was the premise of the lie and the media playing on the emotions of the public to make money (I know they were selling war bonds, but the media was also making allot of money over the lie)-so in that regard I am thinking this just reminded me of what is going on
still today-lies from the media to deceive the public.
Perhaps the timing of when I read this book is the problem for me too. also another thing I did not like-the main character never acted on her love for the reporter except for the one incident. she would have gone through with the wedding if her fiance had not broken it off--getting married even though she had not sorted out her feelings between the two men that marriage would have probably ended up in divorce in real life or she would have stuck it out and not been happy..So stepping back from that and trying not to get to serious over a light hearted story it was pretty well written, I
didn't run in to typos that stood out which I appreciated, and the story ended up well.
